Really Thankful Thursday

And just what are we thankful for? Well ... since our last adoption update, we've had some great adoptions and received really heartwarming follow-up notes from some adoptive families. :)

The adoptions include five kitties we've covered previously on our blog: Babe (pictured above), Chyna, Oliver, Pip and Shaq. Also joining the ranks of official PAWS alumni are: Alexa, Almond, Cap'n Crunch, Cashew, Chester, Cutie Pie & Faith, Earl the Girl, Flower, Graham, Hank (to foster), Itchy & Scratchy, Jax, Jellybean (to live with Frenchie!), Kix & Trix, Ladybug, Lapis, Layla, Leif, Lolita, Ludwig (to foster), Macaroni, Magenta & Joon, Maya & Savannah, Mr. Friendly, Mr. Meow, Petal, Pisces, Polly, Queen Bee & her daughter, Quinn, Sweet Pea & Pesto, Tigor, and Tikka & Charlie.

As for the follow-up notes, here are a couple that we hope make you smile as much as they did us...

"Prince is doing well. He and I were MADE for each other. He is SUCH a lovey-bear! He now sleeps with me every night and lays on the foot of my recliner sometimes (especially if I am not feeling well). He likes to wake me up very early on weekend mornings to feed him by sneaking up next to my face and touching his little nose to mine and purring so loud you'd think a Harley Davidson was in my bedroom ... it's just too cute! He loves tummy-rubs and ear-scritching and if he had his way I would do it 24/7. When I talk to him ... he totally understands what I’m saying and acts on it. He greets me with much kitty-chatter when I come home at night and at bedtime! I just adore him!”

"Sherwood (who is now named Massimo) is doing great and has fully acclimated into our family. My older cat Bella has finally accepted him. It took close to 6 months, but it looks like we are there. They are now feeding together, and just the other day, Massimo had finished eating and as he turned the corner to leave the room he was face to face with Bella. They stopped and looked at each other. He then proceeded to lick her neck/chest area and nuzzled his head into her neck. It was the first time I witnessed a display of affection between them and frankly cutest thing I've ever seen them do! He's great with our kids - still a little skittish as they are a little loud for his taste and he keeps a low profile when we have guests (especially children). He kills all of the bugs too! He loves to get groomed and have his nails trimmed. Thanks again for helping us pick out and rescue the perfect addition to our family! We could not be happier. He truly is a gentle giant!"

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Really Thankful Thursday

We really love being bearers of good news. After all, what’s not to love about sharing exciting adoption news, and passing along happy tales from the families of PAWS “graduates?” :)

Those of you who’ve been following our blog for a while may remember Nemo, the cute, energetic orange and white tabby with the neurological disorder and wobbly gait. Well, after more than a year of waiting, Nemo has found the perfect home! His new humans say "... he's doing great. There was no adjustment necessary. Nemo walked all over the apartment and just settled right in. He sleeps on our bed at night.” Hooray for Nemo!

Here are some more “feel good” follow-up stories:

Frenchie is doing great! She's actually sleeping on the couch next to me right now, and took no time at all to get comfortable with us. She still gets scared with new people, but when it's just us, she rules the house. She loves sitting with us, getting lots of attention, playing and running around the house. Her latest ‘thing’ is sitting in front of the glass doors to our back yard, and watching the birds fly around.”

“We adopted Hassie about a year ago, and she is perfect. We love her so much, and she has been a great addition to our family. Without your help, we wouldn't have had all of the good times that Hassie has brought us. She still loves to play with her hand toy that has all of the strings attached. We give her a little treat of salmon once in a while and she LOVES it! Thank you so much for bringing her into our lives and keeping her happy while she was at PAWS.”

After a few weeks of adjustment, say Murray’s forever people, he really came around. Now that he’s used to his new home, this handsome boy, “… sleeps with us, and licks our ears in the middle of the night. He is incredibly sweet … just a doll of a cat.”

Carrie is fantastic! She is totally happy with us, and we are totally happy with her. She settled in immediately and became the alpha cat, something our other cat seems fine with.”

Olivia is doing beautifully. After a bit of hissing, she and our other cat are getting along fine. Olivia is a really sweet kitty, and loves to be petted. We really love her and think she is perfect!”

Ishma's people say that, "Ishma is living the good life," and sent us the picture below to prove it! :)

And if you need some MORE reasons to smile, the following kitties were also adopted since our last adoption update: Apollo and Lindsey, Bode, Derek and Andy, Jax, Jenny, Juno, Mischief, Peppermint Patty and Sally, Pete, Sashimi, Sassafras, Schroeder, Shaun, Shirley, Snoopy, Tina, Timmy, Tommy, and Twitter.

Enjoy your forever homes, kitty friends. We love you! :)

Benjamin and Frenchie

Benjamin, a beautiful orange tabby, tends to be a little shy when he first meets new people.  But if you approach him slowly and pet his head, then scratch him under his chin while talking quietly and calmly, you'll most likely make a friend for life.  A previous owner de-clawed all four of Benjamin's paws so he'll have to always be an indoor cat since he doesn't have any way to defend himself with.  He craves attention, but also gives clues when he's getting over-stimulated.  He has become somewhat "cage-dependent" at our shelter, so it would be wonderful if he gets adopted soon.  Once he's in his forever home, Benjamin is sure to blossom as he realizes that beyond his cage is a safe and loving world.

Every kitty and human loves Frenchie ... and Frenchie loves every kitty and human, too!  This adorable black and white tuxedo cat loves a good lap and likes to play with her buddy Mercedes (a cute black kitty in her room at PAWS).  At first, Frenchie can come across as being a little shy.  But if you sit on the floor with her, she'll slowly approach you and snuggle up for some good old-fashioned petting.
