Carrie and Sweetheart are two kitties who have touched our hearts.
Originally adopted ten years ago from PAWS, Carrie (the tabby and white beauty) was brought back to us because, sadly, her owner is moving. This gentle soul enjoys being pet and loves to play with a squeaky mouse toy that was given to her by a PAWS volunteer. Although Carrie ventures out into the room every now and then when her cage is open, she seems to feel safer within its confines. She's still a bit overwhelmed by the whole shelter experience, but we're sure she'll blossom once she's in a home of her very own. Carrie is 11 years young and front-paw declawed.
Sweetheart, a beautiful white kitty of 10 years, showed up at PAWS because her owner could no longer care for her. She definitely prefers the company of people to others cats, and loves a nice warm lap and a good petting! She has a very unique meow that Kevin and I believe may be the result of her being deaf. She also happens to be quite an accomplished purrer! :)
We love these little girlies and can't wait for them to be placed in their furever homes!

I will never understand why people don't take their cats with them when they move, especially after having them for 10 years. I can understand if it was to go into assisted living or something like that. I hope that both cats find loving homes soon.
poor kitties! hopefully someone will adopt them although their a little older. cats can live very long, some people just don't seem to get that and think that 10 is very old. its not!!
how are adoptions for older cats over there? here in malaysia, its very difficult to find homes for older animals.. everyone wants kittens and pups though i try to explain that older animals make great pets!
They're beautiful! I'm going to have to stop in to visit with them the next time I'm at the shelter.
I'll never understand how people can have pets for that so long and then just give them up. We sure hope they will be adopted into permanent, loving forever homes very soon.
we hope they find a nice home soon with a loving human. The Animal Welfare League in Adelaide SA has a retirement cottage for elderly cats whose humans have gone to the rainbow bridge before them. There are some nice photos of the cats enjoying their retirement.

Lynettea would like me to go there if anything happened to her. I hope it won't though.
Ten years... that's a lifetime. It hurts to think about being kicked out the door after ten years. They are both very beautiful cats, and I strongly, sincerely hope they will quickly find real forever homes.
Thanks for your comments everyone!
It can be very difficult for us to see so many great animals turned in to PAWS for reasons that we can't relate to. Kevin and I see our own cats as our "furry children" and can't imagine ever having to give them up.
The older cats can be harder to place, however, we encourage folks to adopt them as their personalities are easy to see up front...You pretty much know what you're adopting. As a matter of fact, Kevin and I only adopt adult cats, as does many of our volunteer friends.
Diamond – The Peppertree Cottage looks wonderful. I believe we have a few such places in the United States. I would like our kitties to go to one, should anything happen to us and we're unable to find friends or family members to take them in.
Have a great day everyone!
Such beauties! We definitely hope these girls get a permanent forever home! It's heartbreaking that they have been uprooted after being with someone so long.
What lovely cats. So sad to know that they were given up after being with their humans for so long. At least they were not abandoned.
Carrie and Sweetheart are just beautiful! We hope they find their forever homes soon. It's so sad to see so many kitties without forever homes.
XOXO

What a couple of beauties!! We hope they can find new homes!
I hope these two lovely ladies find new homes soon. It's sad that their humans can't take them along...
Sweetheart and Carrie are in good hands now, no matter what else comes. Just the same, we're hoping they soon will have great forever homes...
