Fun on Friday - Cartoon Moosey

Every week, our dear pal Nellie - who blogs over at the awesome Thoughts and Mewsings from the Cats from Hell - has a really fun "Finish the Sentence Game." She posts the beginning of a sentence, and challenges her readers to complete it in the comments section. One comment is chosen at random, and Nellie and her talented Mom Barb create a cartoon of the winner's sentence. This week's sentence was "I once dreamt that I was __________."

You can imagine our excitement when we found out that our own sweet Moosey was selected as this week's lucky winner!  His completed sentence was, "I once dreamt that I was king of the world." Here's the fabulous cartoon Nellie and Mom came up with.

Notice the comments by Gracie and Zoe (silhouettes in the foreground)! :)

Thank you, Nellie and Mom Barb. We totally LOVE it!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Hubbell

Question: Who's black and white (with jellybean toes), and sweet all over? Answer: Our adoptable pal Hubbell! :)

Hubbell is about three years old, and must be adopted with his equally handsome brother, Marshall. These boys are shy at first, but very affectionate with humans with whom they are familiar. They get along well with other cats, and would do better in a quieter home. Hubbell and Marshall are neutered, micro-chipped, and current on their vaccinations. They have tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Marshall and Hubbell are waiting patiently at PAWS to find their forever family. Is it yours?

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Martha Washington

Gorgeous calico kitty Martha Washington wants to be YOUR first ladycat.

Martha's cage card says she previously lived with dogs and children, but she still seems a little intimidated by life at PAWS. Happily, we're beginning to see her true personality emerge: she's sweet and playful (when the mood strikes)!  3 year-old Martha is spayed, micro-chipped. and current on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Are you her George (or Georgina) Washington? :)

Mancat Monday - Sir Nigel Purrsworth

Handsome tiger tabby Sir Nigel Purrsworth would love to be your knight in shiny orange armor.

Or, better yet, your best friend.

With a name like Sir Nigel, don't you think this awesome guy deserves his own fairytale ending (i.e. a forever home of his own)?

Sir Nigel Purrsworth is about 4 1/2 years old. He's friendly, very playful (he loves the mouse on the string toy), and likes the company of his human volunteer friends.  Sir Nigel is neutered, micro-chipped, and current on all of his vaccinations.  He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. And, of course ... he's waiting PAWS to meet you. :)

FURever Home Friday! :)

Each and every cat that finds itself at PAWS is precious and loved, but certain ones touch the hearts of the volunteers and staff in a special way. Our beautiful pal Truffle is one of those cats. Truffle can be spunky, and doesn't always "show well" to potential adopters. But those of us who know and love her will tell you with great conviction that she is also sweet, playful and full of love. That's why it made us so incredibly sad that Truffle had been at the shelter for more than 6 years. She always handled being there with great aplomb, but lately it seemed that depression had set in. She just wasn't her normal self, and she needed a way out ASAP.

Well, thank goodness for friends.  One of Truffle's best human pals, PAWS volunteer Chris R., decided that enough was enough. He is now Truffle's permanent foster dad. For those of you wondering what that means, it's as close to being adopted as Truffle can get without actually being adopted.  She now lives with Chris and his cat Tumble, and will do so forever (unless someone decides to adopt Miss Truffle). She will not return to PAWS, except for checkups. Truffle now has lots of space, windows to look out of, sunpuddles to lay in, and lots of attention from her Chris. We are over the moon that this special kitty is finally in a real, loving home. Thank you, Chris and Tumble, for rescuing our friend Truffle. :)

Also finding their happily ever afters were shy and timid brothers Hippity and Hoppity. Like Truffle, these guys were passed over time and again because they didn't show well to potential adopters. We were overjoyed and grateful to hear that Hippity and Hoppity's new family fell in love with them, and that they are willing to give them the time and space they need in order to trust and blossom as we know they will. :)

Here's the full list of cats (in alphabetical order) who have been adopted since our last update:
Anna
Fez
Halloumi, Stilton and Fiyero (together)
Hippity and Hoppity (together)
Mittens and Harlequin (together)
Nimbus
Pasha
Scrapper and Turk (together)
Simba
Truffle (to permanent foster)

Congratulations to all of the graduates! We'll miss you, but are so happy that you have found your very own forever homes. :)

Happy Tails: Quick notes from some PAWS alumni

"One year ago today I brought this girl home to her forever home. Clara (Snow White) is happy to be cuddling on the couch this morning to celebrate."

"Just an update on Max - you would never know this cat is 14 yrs old. He plays like a nut case."

"Here is an update on Biddy who was adopted in September after spending two years with you. She is happy and looking very healthy."

Happy weekend to all! :)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Lincoln

Hi there, Lincoln. Why don't you show everyone how well you sing?
LA LA LA LA LA LA!
How was that?

Handsome Lincoln is about 2 years old.  He's friendly, outgoing and playful with his human volunteer friends.  As you can see in the second picture, he also happens to be a great singer (and talker).  He'd like to be an only kitty, and would do best in a more active home.  Lincoln is about 2 years old, neutered, micro-chipped, and current on all of his vaccinations; he has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Come meet him at PAWS today!
