Please Help Find Trouper! (UPDATED 07/19/13)

Trouper is missing!

*** UPDATE July 19th, 10:38PM: Trouper is still missing. :(  We helped look for him tonight.  Lots of people are sharing, and lots of wanted signs posted in the area. Thank you, everyone.  PLEASE KEEP SHARING, purring, praying and sending good thoughts.  Cindy says the scent/tracking dog is coming to Norwalk to help with the search tomorrow. ***

In all of our time volunteering at PAWS, we've made many wonderful friends.  One of them, dog volunteer extraordinaire Cindy, needs our HELP!  Her dog, Trouper, is MISSING.  He disappeared today (July 18th, 2013) at about 11 AM, in the vicinity of East Rocks Road in Norwalk, Connecticut.  Trouper is a black and white Border Collie, 15 years old.  He has a collar and tags, but you probably won't see them, since he's very furry.  He has a very long tail, which sometimes curls over his back. If you spot Trouper, please call Cindy at 203-988-3769.  PLEASE SHARE.  You just never know who might know someone who can help find Trouper.

Thanks, everybody.

FURever Home Friday :)

Guess what today is?  It's time for the latest edition of FURever Home Friday! Since our last adoption update, 22 PAWS cats of all ages found homes of their very own.  And even with kitten season in full swing, it was exciting that so many of the adoptees - like brothers Buster and Brian, sisters Amy and Amanda, Ewan, brothers Milo and Simba, Minnie Mouse, brothers Charlie and Marshall and the always irrepressible Elmer - were adult cats!  We're also happy to say that a number of them were gotcha'd during last month's "Nine Dollars for Nine Lives" event. :)

Here's the full list of recent graduates.  We love you, kitties!  ConCATulations to you and your new families!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Doodle

Have you cast your Petties ballot today? :)
Adorable (and adoptable) Doodle is a very sweet girl.  She's a little shy, but share some catnip with her and she'll be your BFF! :)

As we shared over the weekend, we're a finalist in the "Best Rescue/Cause Blog" category of the 2013 Petties.  We also mentioned that we are thrilled to be in the company of so many blogging friends, including our wonderful pals at Pet Blogs United, who are finalists in the "Best Overall Pet Blog" category.  In an amazingly kind and generous gesture, Pam and Oskar have pledged that if they win THEIR category, they'll donate the prize money to PAWS.  How cool is that?!  Thank you, Pam and Oskar.  You rock!

PLEASE VOTE DAILY for Animal Shelter Volunteer Life for Best Rescue/Cause Blog (and for your other favorite pet blogs, too, including Pet Blogs United for Best Overall Pet Blog) now through July 31 (and invite anyone and everyone you know to do the same)Especially since the PAWS animals will benefit. :)

Mancat Monday - Max :)

Hi everybody, I'm Max.  I've been here at PAWS for a while now, and I have to say that it's a pretty good place.  The volunteers and staff give me lots of love and attention, and my roommates Gracie, Zoe and Freddy are pretty nice cats.  Our room has a window we all like to look out of, and the sunpuddles are fantastic.  We have a sink, too, which is great, because I like drinking from the faucet!

But like all the kitties here, I'm wishing real hard for a forever home.  I had one once, but I ended up at PAWS after my people developed allergies.  I'm sweet, outgoing, good with other cats, and even like dogs!  I'm about 11 years old, but I have lots more years of loving and living left.  I'm neutered, up to date on all my vaccinations, and micro-chipped.  And I've tested negative for FeLV and FIV.  So, what do you say?  Come meet your new best friend (ME!) at PAWS today!

Finalists for the 2013 Petties Awards!

Holy Cat!  We just learned that Animal Shelter Volunteer Life is one of the four finalists for the "Best Cause Related Blog" category of the 2013 Petties Awards!  This is the second year in a row we have been a finalist for the Petties, which are DogTime Media's annual awards show recognizing "the best of the pet blogging community."

Huge thanks to everyone who nominated us (including our awesome pals at Rumpydog, who actively encouraged their readers to nominate us).  What an incredible honor to be included among so many amazing bloggers we respect and admire.  Good luck to all of the finalists (many of whom are our friends)!

No matter who wins, we're glad that the animals will benefit!  How, you ask?  Well, the winning blog in each category will receive a $1,000 donation to the shelter of their choice.  We, of course, would choose PAWS of Norwalk, Connecticut, where we volunteer, and where Moosey, and Angels Sammy, Graphite, and Lady Madonna were adopted from.  And in case you're wondering ... all of the beautiful kitties in the collage above are just a few of those now at PAWS, waiting to find their very own forever homes.

We'd love it if you would VOTE FOR US DAILY, now through July 31, 2013.  And please share and invite others to do the same -- via Facebook, Twitter, email, blogs, word of mouth, and anything else you can think of.  Thank you, everybody! :)

Stay safe, everybody!

Tabby-Torbie-Tuesday

Some tantalizing and terrific tabby-ness for your Tuesday, courtesy of our adoptable PAWS friends Merritt, Sandy and Truffle...

Merritt is beautiful and fun.  This gorgeous torbie LOVES to play, and gets along with some other cats.  She'd do best in a home without small children or dogs, and where her people understand that sometimes even the most loving cat needs her space.

Sweet, soulful Sandy came to PAWS when her owner had to enter a nursing home.  This extremely affectionate lapcat has energy (you should see her jumping skills!) that makes it hard to believe she's 16 years old.  Sandy loves playing, snuggling, and being brushed.  She is eligible for PAWS' "Seniors for Seniors" program, and also a lower adoption fee for seniors.

Truffle may not be a lapcat, but that doesn't mean she's not affectionate.  She loves weaving in and out of the PAWS staff and volunteers' legs, and being pet on the head and behind her ears.  This 7 1/2 year-old loves relaxing in sunpuddles (who doesn't?), and is very playful, too.  You can read more about Truffle here.

All three of these terrific tabby girls are available for adoption at PAWS.  They are spayed, micro-chipped, current on all their vaccinations, and have tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

Fun with (Adoptable) Friends :)

Here are some of our Cat Room 7 pals having some catnip-infused fun.  The handsome house panther in the center of the action is Elmer, who after more than TWO YEARS at PAWS recently found a loving forever home of his very own.  ConCATulations to Elmer and his new family!

The other kitties in the GIF above - all of whom are adoptable* - are tabby/white Igor and orange tabby brothers Tony and Lenny. :)

* Don't forget that PAWS' "$9 For 9 Lives" event ends this Sunday (June 30).  All PAWS cats (nine months and older) can be adopted for a super low fee of just $9!  You'll even get a goody bag of food, toys and other good stuff to help welcome your new best friend home. :)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Sparky :)

Handsome Sparky and his shyer (but also quite handsome) brother Shadow are still looking for their forever home.  These boys are quite bonded, and must be adopted together.  Here's the good news ... since PAWS "$9 for 9 Lives" event runs through June 30, you can adopt them both for just $18! :)

Easy Like Sunday - Gracie and Zoe

Sweet and snuggly sisters Gracie and Zoe are taking it easy today.  They also want to remind you that PAWS' "$9 For 9 Lives" event runs through June 30.  Just think, you could adopt this bonded pair of sisters (and fill your home with love) for under 20 bucks.  What a bargain!

Have a great Sunday, everybody! :)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - A Special Event!

If you've been thinking about adopting a cat, you won't want to miss the special event starting this Friday (June 21st) at PAWS. "9 Lives for 9 Dollars" is exactly what it sounds like ... all PAWS cats (nine months and older) can be adopted for a super low fee of just $9!  You'll even get a goody bag of food, toys and other good stuff to help welcome your new friend home.  How great is that? The event runs through June 30th.

All PAWS kitties are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations, FIV and FeLV tested, and microchipped.  IMPORTANT NOTE: Even though the fee will be just $9, all potential adopters will, as always, be carefully screened.

Here are pictures of just a few of our amazing and adoptable cat pals...

A Happy Father's Day to meowmeowmans!

A very special shout out to meowmeowmans for being the bestest "fur baby" daddy ever!

Pictured from left to right: Graphite, Bitsy, Maggie, Moosey, Lady Madonna and Sammy.

I thank you for the love you give Moosey every single day, and for the love and compassion you gave Sammy, Maggie, Graphite, Lady Madonna and Bitsy - until their journeys over Rainbow Bridge. Last but not least, I thank you for the special love you give all the kitties at PAWS - acting as their human dad until they exit those doors and enter the doors of their forever homes.

Happy Father's Day, Dad Kevin! You are loved!

Mom Tracey, Moosey, Sammy, Maggie, Graphite, Lady Madonna, Bitsy and all past and present PAWS kitties...:)

FURever Home Friday :)

Hooray, it's finally Friday!  And better than that, it's FURever Home Friday!  We're excited to report that since our last adoption update, LOTS of PAWS kitties have found families of their very own.  Do you remember house panther Jet (who had been here since he was a kitten)?  And how about senior ladycat Penelope, sensitive Rupert, and silly Trina?  They've all been adopted! :)

Check out the full list of recent PAWS graduates!

Look at this picture of sweet lapcat Bailey in his new forever home!  Doesn't he look fantastic?  Bailey was adopted by our fellow volunteer Suzanne's daughter, and is doing great (and becoming MUCH more self-confident).

And finally, check out this happy tale from Roxy (formerly Caru):

She's doing great. Can't believe she's turning 1 year old next month! I actually renamed her Roxy. She's adapted really well to my house. From the first day I brought her home, she's clearly shown that she loves to eat and she's never had an issue with her new litter box. And when I adopted her, she had a slight heart murmur, which has become almost nonexistent now. I have hundreds of pictures of her, but here's one of her just hanging out by the kitchen window. When she's not busy playing with her toys, she loves to just sit on the window sills and look outside for hours at a time. Really appreciate everything that PAWS is doing. I couldn't imagine my life without her now! - Brian

Congratulations to all of the graduates and their forever families! :)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Buster and Brian

Buster

Brian

Meet Buster and Brian.  Aren't they adorable?  Found as strays, these two cuties are still a little shy, but sit on the floor with them, and they'll crawl all over you to seek out pets and snuggles.  Oh, and they love to play - especially with wand toys!  Brian and Buster are incredibly bonded, and must be adopted together.  They are about one year old, neutered, microchipped and up to date on all their vaccinations.  They have also tested negative for FIV and FeLV.  Come meet these boys at PAWS today, and fall in love! :)

Our adoptable and handsome pal Max has caught himself a nice sunpuddle.  We hope you have a great and easy SUNday, too!  :)

Happy 5th Gotcha Day, Moosey!

It's our sweet Moosey's fifth Gotcha Day!

We are so amazingly lucky we found you, little buddy.  Thank you for making our home such a happy place every single day!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Rusty

Remember beautiful Patches II?  And do you remember how we said she had a handsome, but camera-shy, brother named Rusty?  Well, we're happy to share that sweet Rusty is feeling a little more confident and self-assured these days. We even snapped this picture of him in the same snuggle sack that Patches II loves so much!

Rusty and Patches II are extremely bonded, and must be adopted together.  But since they're both such amazing kitties, we think that's a very good thing. :)
