PAWS "Senior Cat Sunday" Event

Sammy

Hi! It's me, Sammy, and I'm here to tell you about a great event being held at PAWS this Sunday, March 25th. That's when the shelter will be hosting "Senior Cat Sunday," from NOON to 4:00 pm to showcase the many wonderful older adult cats looking for loving forever homes. Would you all please help me spread the word by sharing this post?

Sure, kittens are cute and all, but older cats like me (I was already an older cat when my mom and dad gotcha'd me) offer benefits kittens can't compete with. Us mature cats have personalities that are more fully developed, so you can select a cat that fits in with your lifestyle. And mature cats are mellower and often enjoy cuddling and lap time more than kittens. I know I do! :)

On to the particulars about Senior Cat Sunday. This Sunday, anyone who adopts a PAWS cat who is 7-years old or older will receive a reduced adoption fee of $75, a cat bed AND a "Kitty Swag Bag" filled with supplies to help your new best friend feel at home. And your new kitteh will already be spayed or neutered, current on his/her vaccines, microchipped and tested for FIV and FeLV!

I sure hope you'll visit PAWS on Sunday to meet all the pawsome, happy 7+ year old cats currently looking for new homes. They may no longer be kittens, but since indoor cats can live up to 20 years or more, they still have lots of love to give. Oh, and there are also several bonded pairs of mature cats (like Derek and Andy and Krystal and Loreen) there who are looking for a home together. If you adopt a pair of mature kittehs, you'll receive an even BIGGER reduction on the adoption fee!

Thanks for reading! :)

Hugs and headbonks,

Sammy

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

Sammy and Moosey

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks
May your heart be as light as a song
May each day bring you bright, happy hours
That stay with you all the year long.
- Irish blessing

Happy St. CATrick's Day, everybody! :)

Hugs and headbonks,

Sammy, Moosey, Mom Tracey, Dad Kevin, and the cats at PAWS

Late-breaking news flash: We've been informed that Moosey and Sammy have been voted the 3rd place winners in the St. Patrick's Day Photo Contest in Memory of Nimbus.  You can check out all the winning entries here, and ALL of the amazing entries here.  Thank you to our pals at Brian's Home for their constant work to help animals everywhere, and for sponsoring such a fun contest. :)

Too Sweet Tuesday - Ian

We love Ian! This handsome mancat is super-friendly, and loves playing and getting attention from his favorite staff and volunteer pals. And as you can see from these pictures, sometimes he enjoys curling up in a nice warm lap.

Ian is about 9 years old, neutered, microchipped, current on all his vaccinations and has tested negative for FeLV.  Ian *does* have the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), which despite its scary name, is NOT a death sentence.  In fact, many FIV-positive cats like Ian live long, healthy and happy lives.  Ian should be an indoor only cat.  He does not care for dogs or small children, but gets along with some cats.  Won't you come meet this special guy today? :)

Easy Like Sunday - Bunny

As you can see, sweet Bunny is taking it easy and catching some rays today. She and her (equally sweet) sister Hunny are available for adoption at PAWS. Come meet them today! :)

Sandy is Sweet, Sunny and Sensitive

Handsome Sandy is a sweet and sensitive soul.  He can be somewhat shy around new people, but give him a little time and you've got a friend for life.  All he needs now is a nice, quiet place to call home (and some loving people to call his very own).  Sandy likes to play, and gets along well with the other cats in his room.  He's neutered and up-to-date on all his vaccinations, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

Mancat Monday - Cecil

Cecil is one of the sweetest, snuggliest mancats we know. He loves people and gets along well with other cats, too. He also plays like he's a kitten!

Cecil is about 7 years old, and was found as a stray, even though he is declawed. He was INCREDIBLY lucky to survive out in the wild without his claws.

We're so glad he found his way to PAWS, where he can live safely until he finds his forever home. Cecil is neutered, up to date on all his shots, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Dr. Seuss Day Challenge ... FURever Home Edition

Today is the Dr. Seuss Day Challenge, and our pal Anabelle has the very best kind of Seuss-ian rhyme to share.  So, without further ado ... take it away, Anabelle!

Luisa and Jupiter were also adopted since our last update!  ConCATulations to this trio of new PAWS graduates!  We'll miss you all, sweet kits, but we are so happy for you and your new forever families. :)

Two on Tuesday - Doodle and Kramer

We love it when cats that meet for the first time at the shelter become pals. Here are sweet creamsicle ladycat Doodle and tabby mancat Kramer watching some of the PAWS woofies playing in the yard.  Click here to read more about Doodle and her brother Yankee.  And to read more about Kramer and his sister Kosmo, check out this post on our pal Maggie's "Sundays at the Shelter" blog.

We've been tagged!

Sammy
We’ve been tagged by two fellow pet bloggers, Jan’s Funny Farm and One Pibble’s Wish. And our very own Sammy and Moosey (who were both adopted from PAWS) have volunteered to answer the questions that have been posed. Take it away, boys!

1. Describe yourself in seven words
Sammy: Handsome, hungry, loud, snuggly, lucky, funny, easygoing

Moosey: Fast, cuddly, playful, lucky, cute, sensitive, smart

2. What keeps you up at night?
Moosey: My automatic feeder (and Sammy’s, too)

Sammy: Moosey’s automatic feeder (oh, and mine, too)

3. Who would you like to be?
Moosey: A fish. Or a water quality engineer. I love water!

Sammy: A honey badger.

4. What are you wearing now?
Sammy: My thick, luxurious furs, and my purple collar

Moosey: Hey! Me, too! Except my collar is blue.

Moosey
5. What scares you?
Sammy: Not much of anything. But please don’t sneak up on me, since I can’t hear too well.

Moosey: The doorbell is very SKERRY!

6. The best and worst of blogging?
The best: Meeting so many wonderful animal and people friends around the world

The worst: The new double word verification thing in Blogger

7. What was the last website you visited?
Both: The Cat Blogosphere!

8. What is the one thing you would change about yourself?
Both: Nothing, because Mommy and Daddy tell us we’re perfect just the way we are.

9. Slankets. Yes or no?
Both (and Mommy and Daddy, too): What the heck is a “slanket?”

10. Tell us something about the dogs, cats and/or people who tagged you.

We love the whole gang at Jan’s Funny Farm. Merci, Sam, Buddy, Percy, Cotton, Rusty, Cyndi, Cameron and Jan were some of our very first blogging friends ever. Their blog is a great mix of humor, advocacy and new information. If you haven’t ever visited them, you should!

One Pibble’s Wish is a terrific blog written by our pit bull pal Charlie and her mom Cindy, who happens to be a fellow volunteer at PAWS, the no-kill shelter where our mom and dad volunteer (and where we were adopted from). Cindy and Charlie (and all her woofie siblings) are wonderful ambassadors for the wonderful and often misunderstood pit bull breed.

11. Choose eight bloggers to tag next.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Swizzle

We first introduced pretty and playful Swizzle about a year ago.  Even though she loves the attention she gets from the PAWS staff and volunteers, this sweetheart is still waiting for her forever home.  To read more about Swizzle, click here.
