FURever Home Friday :)

Gucci the kitten has been adopted!  And while that's pretty darned exciting news, we know that in our last post, we promised you some good adult cat news.  So, are you ready? :)

Oliver has found his FOREVER forever home!  We were all sad when Ollie was returned to PAWS in late February (after having been adopted back in 2011).  During his stay, he had some much-needed dental work done, and we were delighted to watch his sweet and silly personality re-emerge.  We know Oliver will do well with his new forever family. :)

The other two stars of this edition of Furever Home Friday are Bella and Waldo. You may remember beautiful Bella, who was returned to PAWS when her owner passed away.  After waiting for more than 10 months, she's finally started her new "happily ever after."  But she won't be starting it alone, because she was adopted together with Waldo!  We hadn't yet had the opportunity to blog about Waldo, a super friendly 6-year old special needs cat (his front legs are severely disfigured) who ended up at PAWS after being found next to a dumpster.  Just look at his sweet face! :)

Bella and Waldo were adopted by a fellow shelter volunteer, so we hope to share periodic updates about how they're doing. :)

Finally, here's a picture of Bijoux in her forever home.  Doesn't she look great (and happy)?

Bijoux is in the HER house!
Concatulations to all of the new PAWS graduates and their families!

Have a great day, everybody!

FURever Home Friday

Great news, friends! We've recently had a nice run of adoptions, including those of Bijoux and Noelle (aka "Meow Meow," the kitty Kevin and I found in the woods)!

Now, those of you who've been following our blog for some time may be asking, "Wasn't Bijoux was adopted a while ago?" And you would be correct. Sadly, that particular adoption didn't work out, and we welcomed Bijoux back to PAWS. Since then, our adoption counselors worked hard to get her adopted to just the right home, and she recently went to live happily ever after with a very nice, young married couple who love Bijoux for the "gem" she is! :)

Other adoptions we're happy to share: Butch, Carmella, Claudia (one of our longtimers), Hobbs, Justin, Mia, Pecan, and brothers Ralph and Richie (together).

We thank you so much, kitties, for enriching our lives. We wish you long, happy, and healthy lives with the wonderful families who took you in.

We love you all!

Some furry friends find forever homes

We have great news, and we're practically bursting at the seams to share it! A number of our feline pals at PAWS -- including some previously mentioned here in our blog -- have recently been adopted! And although we'll miss seeing them, it's wonderful to know they've finally found "forever" homes, with places and humans they can call their very own!

So, without further ado, we present a list of some recent PAWS graduates...

Bijoux, the adorable tortie (photo) with a penchant for "Cat TV," rolling around on the floor and licking noses. We are told she charmed the socks off of her new owner, who was described to us as a "big, burly" gentleman. Word has it that Bijoux sealed the deal by licking his face! :)

Morgan and Chandler, the sweet brothers who were returned to PAWS when their owner was no longer able to take care of them. It was clear these two gentle boys were very fond of each other, which makes us incredibly happy they were adopted together.

And Nixie, a totally sweet, all-black kitty who LOVES people. His new people sent a short e-mail to tell us about how well he's managed to transition into his new home. Here's what they wrote:

“We love Nixie! He fits in perfectly. In less than 24 hours in our house, Mr. Nixon has decided he has to explore (it's a large home, so there is a lot to see), he talks nicely to Maximus and ... this morning I came downstairs to the kitchen and he's already caught me a mouse! (Max has no claws - he was another rescue.) And he gave it to Max as a present! Max was pretty pleased, although he's still making Nixie jump through the new-cat-on-the-block hoops. But I know Max is relieved to have company after losing his pal Samuel. Nixie's working out better than fine ... he sends his love!”

Be well in your new homes, kitty friends. We love you!

A Great Weekend...

How great it was to come back to the shelter after taking time off to entertain relatives from out of town during the Holidays. Upon returning, my husband Kevin and I discovered that there were many really good adoptions, including:

Mia - a super sweet and adorable attention hog who loved to be held and often drooled from excitement by the attention she received. Her "call for loving" and playful nature will happily be missed.

Kyle - a sweet and gentle big boy who came into the shelter with his "kids". He was a great dad who entered the shelter shy and scared, and walked out a more confident and happy cat.

Even with the many recent adoptions, there's always a strong desire to adopt out as many as we can - safely.

Today, Kevin and I particularly enjoyed hanging out with Dexter, Bijoux and Misty.

Dexter (top left photo) is such a gentle soul who loves a good lap. When you're petting him, the tip of his little pink tongue sticks out of his mouth. He gets along with any of the cats we put in his room and he loves "Cat TV", particularly the Cardinals and Squirrels...(:

Bijoux (top right photo), an adorable torti, is a vibrant little lady who rolls around when she has company and twitches her tail when she wants to be pet. When I sit straight-legged on the floor, her little body jumps over my legs again and again and again. Also a huge fan of "Cat TV", her favorite segment is the one where the gerbils are running around...(:

Lastly, Misty (bottom photo) is an easygoing tuxedo cat who loves people as well as a feathery snakelike toy. Her favorite piece of furniture in the playroom is a huge foam filled "bean bag" looking chair. Walk by her room and you're almost guaranteed to see her there. She gets along with just about every cat in her room and only hisses when needed.

Okay, this entry is pretty long so I'm cutting out for now...(:

More to come...
