(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Gerdy

This is our gentle and beautiful friend, Gerdy.

Those of you who have been following our blog for a long time might remember this sweetheart, who was originally adopted from PAWS in March of 2010.

Sadly, Gerdy's human recently had to move into a nursing home, and was not able to take her sweet kitty with her. So Gerdy finds herself back at the shelter, in search of a new forever home. These situations always break our hearts, but we are glad that PAWS always takes in former residents when their people can no longer care for them.

It's clear to us that Gerdy was loved and well-cared for all these years. She is as beautiful as ever, and still possesses the same sweet disposition. She loves attention and being pet. She gets along with other nice cats, but would also be fine as your one and only. Gerdy is so ready to find her new happily ever after. Is it with you?

Oh Gerdy, you're so beautiful. I hope you find another furrever home. I bet your previous adopter misses you so much.

How sad that Gerdy couldn't accompany her human to the nursing home. My human was lucky and was able to find a place that let her dad have his cat Smokey until he passed away. I wish more places understood the importance of having pet friendly policies.

Oh Gerdy, that is so sad that happened to you. I hear of many cats this happens to as their parents age. It is a tragedy for the pet parents too. They miss their loved pets terribly.

What a sweet love she is. We're sending our purrs to her, that she finds (another) forever home soon. ♥

How sad that Gerdy's human couldn't care for her anymore. We're purring Gerdy finds a new home soon.

what a beautiful girl. it is a shame that more nursing/retirement homes can't figure out a way to help residents keep their pets since we know it does so much for people to have them.

Something I think is really rough, is leaving those behind when we have to go into care. I hope Gurdy finds another happy long term family very soon.

Oh Gerdy we are so sad to see you had to lose your human. WE pray that a young family will adopt you and you have your forever and ever home like you so deserve.

That is sad that the nursing home doesn't allow for furry companions. Gerdy must be very sad to have to part from her human furr-iend. But she is in good 'PAWS' until a new family comes for her. Pets for Gerdy. -Valentine (& Mom) of Noir Kitty Mews

This breaks our hearts. It's such a shame those homes don't permit owners to bring cats. Gerdy is precious looking and we hope she'll be rehomed quickly.

She's actually gotten more beautiful over the years. I had forgotten that she was at PAWS in 2009- http://www.shelter-cats.com/?s=gerdy.
I hope her stay will be short.

I love Gerdy's face Gerdy. It's sad when the human has to leave behind the cat when they go to a nursing home, but I'm glad that Gerdy was returned so she could be properly cared for.

Mommy remembers Gerdy! She is such a beautiful cat! It is good that you take back those who's owners can't take care of them any more.

I am so glad that PAWS takes back former adoptees whose owners can no longer care for them. That means that beautiful, sweet kitties like Gerdy can find their new forever home with their new family. Purrs and prayers to Gerdy!

I think I've talked before about the time I pet sat professionally and one of our clients had to give up her cats (who I'd been caring for). I imagine that was harder for her than her physical limitations. It seems like people and their cats should be supported when the cats are needed most. And fewer cats in shelters too!
