A Special Message from Angel Sammy :)
Hi everybuddy! It’s ME, Angel Sammy, visiting from Rainbow Bridge with a special and important message!
Did you know that today, October 16th, is National Feral Cat Day?
I happen to know LOTS about ferals, since I used to live in a feral cat colony (before I came to PAWS, where my mom and dad adopterated me from).
National Feral Cat Day was started in 2001 by Alley Cat Allies -- the amazing group dedicated to helping feral and stray cats across the nation. The people at Alley Cat Allies are also experts about Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), where cats who live outdoors are humanely trapped and checked out medically, spayed or neutered and given their shots. Some of those cats are found to be friendly (like me!), and are put up for adoption.
Cats who are truly feral and unadoptable are released back into the areas from which they came, or into managed feral cat colonies, and nice humans feed them every day and take care of any who are sick or get hurt. And because they are spayed and neutered, the cats are less apt to fight, and don't have to deal with stresses like mating, pregnancy, and kittens being born.
I sure hope you liked my message for today! Please consider helping the feral and strays in your neighborhood. And tell them your pal Sammy sent you!
Hugs and headbonks,
Sammy

WOO HOO! You go Sammy:-)
Psst: Our mom has something for you on her blog!!!
Kisses Anya~
Thanks so much for spreading the word, Sammy! As you know, feral kitties need all the help they can get.
There are 7 less strays on the streets because we are now pampered indoor kitties! Heehee.
The strays that Mommy TNR are now being fed by our next door neighbor. Except for Stinky who hangs out at our porch so Mommy feeds him.
TNR is the best way to manage the cats. The cats now no longer fight and co-exist peacefully. :)
Thank you for posting this important message from the Rainbow Bridge, Angel Sammy!
Thank goodness for groups who care for your feral cats.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

Great to see you, Sammy! Thank you for coming over for this very important message!
TNR is a great program, it helps so many kitties.
Sammy, thanks so much for that wonderful message. We just need to get the word out that feral cats are really good cats and can live a really nice life. And they are not mean or dangerous and do not get diseases any more than an indoor cat. Good message Sammy and good to see you.
Thanks for stopping by.
It is nice to see you, Angel Sammy! And with such an impawtant message.

Thanks for reminding us of this important message.
This is such an important and heartfelt post. It made me cry. I wish everyone could/would read this and be moved by it. ~xo~
Oh Angel Sammy, it is so nice to see you, we all miss you buddy! What an important message that you delivered. We didn't know you were from a feral colony before PAWS. We are so happy you got to PAWS and then to the loving family where you were truly cherished before going on to kitty heaven.

Hello Angel Sammy! I try to do my part when possible! I have a Feral name Foggie. Foggie is a smart little booger too. Have not been able to trap him. Been trying for 2 years now! Maybe one day..I will outsmart him!
Keeping Paws crossed!!!
So nice to hear from you today Sammy! I kind of secretly wish I had some feral cats to take care of around here, but I haven't had any in several years now.
Our mommy works with a rescue/TNR group here in Va. They maintain several feral colonies. Three of us were recused by that group. We weren't feral, however. So glad so many are getting the word out today about TNR and the help needed by feral kitties. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Oh Sammy, we love Allie Cat Allies -- they do a tremendous job. I just wish everyone would do TNR when they find a stray kitty. We still have a lot of educating to do don't we!
I did not know this! I will have to give a extra little hug to my once feral kitty rascal! Thanks for Sammy watching over all the kitties of the world :)
thanks angel sammy. we have ferals we feed and want them to get fixed. we'll contact this org. thanks again.

We're doing a limited blog hop today, but stopped by the say thanks for spreading the message about feral cats.
Oh, Sammy, what a great message. The mom loves Alley Cat Allies! We meant to blog about feral cats and the mom even wrote it on her calendar. And guess what? She FORGOT! {{eye roll}} Purrs, sweetie!
Hi Sammy. Great ost. Did you know TW and a friend used to do TNR long before anybuddy knew what it was. Yes, they used to catch all the strays in the hood (including the guy upstair's cats who he refused to get fixed) and bring them to a rescue group. They'd get fixed and returned. that was when she was still a teenager or something like that.
Alley Cat Allies are really neat.
Oh Sammy, dood! It's good to hear from you! Thanks for sharing this special and furry impawtant message!
We celebrated the day by donating food and blankets to our local TNR advocate group who does a great job rescuing and adopting those able to be homed and TNR with life support like food and warm places to sleep outdoors those not able to adapt.
I didn't know about this day until just recently.
It's good to know there are kind heart humans out there who will help ferals.
♥
Angel Sammy was so beautiful! :)
Thank you for bringing us this great post!!My cat Lupetto is a ex feral too(when we caught him he was completely wild, with thousands of health problems) so I have so much respect for organizations like Alley Cat Allies for what they do. I really do hope that people start becoming more aware about the importance of spay, and neuter. Over here spaying and neutering is still seen like a horrible a thing by many people, and I don't understand why!
Sammy
This was a great post from the Bridge we are so glad you shared it.
Angel Sammy,
We see you have been given your angel wings sweet one. You reminded us of all the good people in the world who continue to help ferals. We believe in them completely! We have donated carriers and towels for those types of programs.

I didn't know about that! Thank you for coming all the way over the bridge to visit and share that. Wish I had known before the 16th, but I'll keep sharing the news anyway!
Oh, and thank you for joining the Pet Parade again! Come back later this week to see who else has joined in the fun. And you've received lots of positive comments while being featured. You're well loved!
I didn't know about National Feral Cat Day. There's a colony here that I feed one day a week. I didn't know anything about feral cats until I signed up to feed them through a local group. This year has been quite the learning experience. Thanks for sharing! :-)
