Today is LiveStrong Day. Our lives - like so many others - have been touched by cancer, most recently when our dear Auntie Kathy lost her battle on September 2, 2012. All of us here at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life join in love and support of all who have come face-to-face with this terrible disease. We remember family and friends who have lost their respective fights, and rally behind those who are still fighting.
A collage of Auntie Kathy through the years, created by her brother Eugene (our uncle) |
Lloydie the Cat, who was loved by PAWS staff and volunteers |
We know there are so many other friends we haven't mentioned here. Even if your name isn't mentioned in this post, you are still in our thoughts, prayers and purrs. For all of you, and for everyone still engaged in the battle against cancer, we wish for strength, hope for miracles, and pledge to Live Strong.

We are LivingStrong with you sweet friends. We hope and pray soon there will be a cure for all cancer. All who are touched in any way by this terrible disease is in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs
Amen. We hope cancer is stamped out in our lifetime.
Thank you for remembering my mom, dear friends. Cancer is such an insidious disease. As you know, things can be going so well then some small thing goes wrong and its a snow balling disaster. Its so hard on the family and the patient. We still purr and pray for you and your Auntie Kathy, but we know nothing can take away the pain. XOXO
Livestrong today and always dear friends, and Lovestrong too!!!
We wants to say there is hope too! Two of the Human's dear furiends have beaten the odds and survived some pretty awful cancers -- it's really impawtant that the Humans keep supporting research into new treatments because sometimes they really do work!
XOXOXO and purrs to you and everyone who's lost loved ones. The Human's dad was taken waaaaaaay too soon, almost 30 years ago.
Live strong... that is all you can do when someone you love fights this terrible disease. I lost my only aunt last year to pancreatic cancer. She was only 57. And she lived strong till the very end.
Awful disease cancer. Really awful. We like your post and love your pics!
Purrs to you today and to everyone whose lives have been affected by cancer. There WILL be a cure!

<3 Our family could use an end to cancer.
We are so sorry about your Auntie Kathy. Many purrs and prayers for you!
We hope that someday soon there will be a cure for this awful disease.
We just hope and hope that they come up with some better treatments for cancer and ways to prevent it. We had all those same people in our thoughts today also. Too many sad stories.
I am so sorry about your aunt.. I didn't know... What a terrible disease who takes so many wonderful people and fur babies.
No family escapes I don't think. Mom's mother, her brother and other family members not first degree relatives have all passed away with this dreaded disease. I so sorry about your precious Aunt and Lloydie. Makes mom'e eyes leak. xox
That's just sweet of you guys to dedicate a post to battle cancer. I totally agree and I commend your effort. The Evil C is what is... EVIL.
We love what you did with the Live Strong logo.

We still love seeing that collage your uncle Eugene made of your Aunt Kathy. So beautiful....
This issue is top of mind for us daily as our dad works daily as a radiation physicist to save lives from this awful disease. We don't think there's a soul alive who hasn't' been touched by it. And we join you in choosing to Live Strong and continue to work for a cure.
