Dona Nobis Pacem* / #blog4peace

It's November 4, and we're participating in the annual "BlogBlast for Peace." Now in its 15th year, this movement started by Mimi Lenox has grown to include thousands of bloggers in hundreds of countries - and countless other folks on various forms of social media - all taking the day to spread messages of love, hope and peace.

This November 4 sure is different than any other. With the spiraling global pandemic, the ongoing fight against social injustice, and so much divisiveness and political and economic upheaval, our world isn't exactly peaceful. Is it possible to find inner peace in such a sea of anxiety? Our totally chill (and super adoptable) pal Truman thinks it is. His advice for cats is, "close your eyes, take a deep breath, and purr." And he says humans can replace the part about purring with making sure to hold fast to hope, and practicing self-care. We may not be able to change the world, but we can do what we can to change our own worlds, right?

We're hoping for better days ahead. Our wish, as always, is for all beings everywhere is that they have lives and homes that are abundantly full of peace and love. (*Dona Nobis Pacem is Latin for "Grant us peace.")

Sunday Selfie Sisters - Princess and Domino

Today's selfie is a twofer, starring adorable and sweet sisters Princess and Domino. These two girls were very shy when they first arrived, but have made tremendous strides and are really gaining in confidence. And that is a wonderful thing, since everyone is now getting to see their beautiful personalities!

Domino and Princess are only about one year old. They are spayed, microchipped, current on their vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. They came to PAWS as strays, but are figuring out quickly that humans are pretty okay. 😸😺 Once they get to know you a bit, their shyness disappears and these sweethearts are eager for love and attention.. They get along well with other nice cats, too. Come meet Princess and Domino today!

It's Sunday, which means we're hopping along in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, hosted by our pals at The Cat On My Head. Be sure to check it out to see who else is hopping along (or to join in on the fun)!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Etsy

This is our new pal, Etsy. Her cage card says that she came to PAWS as a pregnant momma cat. Her babies have all been adopted, and now it's time for this pretty girl to find her very own happily ever after.

Isn't she cute? And at just one year old, she's nearly a kitten herself. Etsy is so ready to be the one who gets some much-needed love and attention. πŸ’–

Etsy is still getting used to the unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells of the shelter, but she is quickly learning that the humans here are super cool. They give her lots of love, attention, pets, and food. Oh, and treats and catnip, too! Etsy is spayed, microchipped, current on her vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. Come meet her today!

Thackery's Sunday Selfie

Have you heard that October is Black Cat Awareness Month? It's true! And lo and behold, look who raised his paw to take this week's selfie. It's our super handsome housepanther pal, Thackery.

In addition to being sleek and handsome, Thackery is sweet and friendly mancat all the way from his way cool pointed ears to the tip of his tail. He's about 2 years old, neutered, microchipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. He gets along well with other nice kitties, but would also be fine as your one and only cat. Come meet Thackery today, and fall in love!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Oatmeal

 Peek-a-boo, Oatmeal! We see you!

As you can see, our new pal Oatmeal is super adorable. He also happens to be friendly, playful, and uber adoptable.

Oatmeal is about 3 years old, and sadly, came to PAWS after his owner passed away. He gets along well with other nice cats, but could also be fine as your one and only. He'll probably do best in a quieter home. Oatmeal is neutered, microchipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. He is such a good boy, and so deserves to find his happily ever after. Could that be with you?

Allison's Sunday Selfie

When we did our weekly call for selfies, our sweet, cuddly and adoptable friend Allison raised her paw. Isn't she lovely? (By the way, for our friends who are part of the Cat Blogosphere, we'll address the elephant in the room ... she totally reminds us of our beloved angel friend, Cody, of Cat Chat with Caren and Cody.)

Allison is about 10 years old, and ended up at PAWS after being found as a stray. She is spayed, microchipped,  and current on her vaccinations. She is totally easy going, enjoys being petted, and gets along famously with other nice cats. She would also be perfectly happy as your one and only, if that's how you roll.

This amazing ladycat has tested positive for FIV, but it's important to remember this does not mean she can't live a long and happy life! According to Best Friends Animal Society, "FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues. But if they’re well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets." FIV cannot be passed to other cats through casual contact, or by sharing food, water, or a litter box. Nor can it be passed to people or other pet species.

Allison is purrfectly awesome. All she needs now is a chance. Could it be with you?

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Buddies

Happiness is making new friends. πŸ˜ΈπŸ’–πŸ˜Ί Just ask little tortie cat Peanut Butter and big tuxedo cat Blake. As you can see, they've become the bestest of buddies in their open room at PAWS. Wouldn't it be lovely if they could be adopted together?

Two year-old Blake is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations. Peanut Butter is about 5 months old, spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccinations. Both are negative for FIV and FeLV. We'd love for these BFFs to be adopted together. "PB and Blake" sounds like a purrfect pairing, doesn't it? Come meet these sweethearts today!
