Grant's Sunday Selfie

This is our buddy, Grant. Just look at that sweet and gentle face! And guess what? He's got a personality to match. He's totally ready to find his happily ever after. 💖

Snuggly and friendly Grant, who is just 3 years old, came to the shelter as a stray. He loves to be petted, and to get attention from his human buddies. While Grant is not sick and does not have feline leukemia (FeLV), he does carry the antibodies for it. Because of this, PAWS recommends that Grant be the only cat in your home. Feline leukemia can NOT be transmitted to people or other pet species. His life expectancy is unknown and his adoption donation is waived for this reason. This special boy has so much love to give to a special adopter. All he needs now is a chance. 💖💕💟

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Nevis

Check out our super friendly and adoptable pal, Nevis! Don't you just love his handsome tabby stripes and his big and bright eyes?

Nevis is a gentle dude who loves getting attention from his human pals at PAWS. He isn't really a fan of other kitties, though, and would be a great one and only BFF for whoever is lucky enough to adopt him. Nevis is about 3 years old, neutered, microchipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. He's so ready to be discovered. All he needs now is a chance!

Crinkle's Sunday Selfie

This week's Sunday Selfie star is our handsome and adoptable pal, Crinkle. If you're wondering how he got his name, take a look at his right ear. No one knows how it came to be that way, and he's not telling us. In any case, we think it kind gives him a jaunty look that makes him super adorable!

Three year-old Crinkle is a really sweet cat who ended up at PAWS after being found as a stray. He loves attention from his human pals, and though we don't know for sure about how he is with other cats, he seems totally interested in being friends with the ones with whom he shares a room. Crinkle is neutered, microchipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. He's ready to find his happily ever after. Is it with you?

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Danny

Isn't our buddy Danny cute? He's also playful, sweet, friendly and adoptable!

Danny came to the shelter after being found as a stray, and immediately won the love of all the PAWS volunteers and staff. He gets along well with the other kitties, and is the official "greeter" of people who visit the open room he lives in. He'll do best in a home where he'll get lots of playtime, and would be a great companion for another young kitty. Come meet Danny today, and fall in love!

Kelly's Sunday Selfies

This beautiful housepanther is our super sweet friend Kelly. As you can see, this kitty's got some serious selfie skills, and even included some contemplative profile shots!

Kelly is still a little bit shy with new people, but is a gentle and loving cat through and through. We will 100% attest to the fact that she loves being pet and snuggled. She even fell asleep, while purring contentedly, on my arm last week! Sadly, Kelly ended up at PAWS after her owner passed away. She must have been so loved, and we can only imagine how confusing this must all be for her.

Kelly is about 6 years old. She is spayed, microchipped, current on her vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. She gets along really well with other nice kitties, and would, in fact, do best in a home with another cat. Kelly is so ready to find love again. Could it be with you?

FURever Home Found: #RememberMeThursday

Today is #RememberMeThursday, an international event that shines a light on orphan pets, and the beauty and life-saving importance of pet adoption. And we've got a tale to tell!

In December 2016, we met a beautiful 4 year-old cat named Sassy for the first time.

Sassy (circa 2016)

It was clear she was overwhelmed by being surrounded by other cats, and by the unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells of the shelter. Her backstory, and how she ended up at PAWS, made the situation even sadder. As it happens, the reason she was so nervous and wary of humans was that she had been tormented by children in her former home. Instead of teaching their children to treat animals with love and care, the adults in the house took the easy road (for them), and Sassy was out.

Despite what she had been through, Sassy often showed her human friends (read: PAWS volunteers and staff) flashes of her true self. To those of us she trusted, Sassy was a gentle, sweet, and playful cat who just needed a chance.

Sassy (circa 2017)

But, we all wondered, would that chance ever come? In 2017, 2018, and 2019, more than 1,500 cats and kittens were adopted from PAWS. Sassy was not one of them. But we all knew in our hearts that this special girl’s forever home was out there somewhere. We just had to find it. And in 2020, while the COVID-19 pandemic spurred adoptions and foster homes for shelter animals across the nation, Sassy waited patiently for her moment.

Sassy (circa 2020)

And then it happened. In May of this year, after a 3 ½ year wait, Sassy was adopted. How, we wondered, would she do in a home where she was loved and cherished? Would she blossom, as we believed she would if given the chance?

The answer, of course, is yes. After just three days, her mom shared these pictures. Sassy is finally home.

Sassy’s story is a testament to the value of patience, the power of love, and the forgiving spirit of animals. We’re grateful she ended up at a place like PAWS, where she had the time she needed to adjust, and to find her happily ever after.

Please consider adopting your next pet from a shelter or rescue organization. By doing so, you'll be saving an animal’s life - and the life of the next one that can now be taken in by the shelter. And what could be better than being a part of the fairy tail ending that a pet like Sassy has been waiting her whole life for?

(Almost) Wordless Suzie

We seriously love our adoptable pal Suzie! She is so sweet, gentle and affectionate. 💖

Suzie is about 10 years old, and came to PAWS after her senior owner, sadly, moved into a nursing home and was unable to take her along. Suzie was understandably confused and nervous at first, but has totally come out her shell. She loves snuggles and being pet, and we know she will continue to blossom in a forever home. All she needs is a chance. Please come meet Suzie today!

PROGRAMMING NOTE: We don't normally post on Thursdays, but hope you'll visit tomorrow (9/24). We're participating in #RememberMeThursday, and we think you'll enjoy our post about the joy and redemption that come with pet adoption!
