(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Jasper

Mesmerizing. That's the word that came to mind when we first met our handsome new friend, Jasper. Just look at those eyes. And that intense gaze. And his sleek and luxurious fur.

Jasper is new at PAWS, so he's still getting used to the sights, smells and sounds that come with living at the shelter. We can only imagine how scary it all is for a less confident cat like him.

Fortunately, through socialization that includes play (which he LOVES), pets, conversation and catnip, Jasper is learning that the people here are actually pretty nice. And that's a good thing, since that realization will help him to trust all humans, and make him more adoptable. :)

Jasper is about one year old, neutered, micro-chipped and current on his vaccinations. He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He can be a little rough, so he would do best in a patient, adults-only home without any other pets or children. Won't you give Jasper the chance he so deserves?

Update on Zoe: Thank you all for your continued purrs, prayers and good thoughts. Zoe's checkup on Saturday went well. Her bloodwork yielded good results, and the echocardiogram she had today showed no abnormalities in her heart. It's all good news, but we still don't (and may never) know what actually caused her incident. The upshot, though, is that Zoe is back to her normal, lovable, happy-go-lucky self. :)

Easy Like Selfie Sunday :)

When we asked for volunteers for this week's Sunday Selfie, we were delighted that our adoptable pal Seaside raised her paw. As you can see, she's a real cutie pie, and very good at taking selfies.
Seaside (whose brother Cove was featured here a few weeks ago) is about one year old. This sweet and petite ladycat is spayed, micro-chipped, current on her vaccinations and negative for FIV/FeLV. She can be a little shy with new people, but loves attention once she knows you. So come get to know her! :)

Of course, we can't let Sunday go by without a little "Easy Like Sunday" cat-napping. Two of Seaside's (also adoptable) roommates, Mindy and Rudy, have staked out their spots on the always-popular Ikea doll ROOM 5 CAT bed.

Good job, Mindy and Rudy!

Biddy
We adopted Biddy in September 2014 after she had spent two years with you at PAWS. Biddy is doing great and we are so happy to have her. She loves taking naps anywhere she can, drinking water from the sink, and Boar's Head turkey. Thank you PAWS for everything you did for Biddy!

This is Brian (tabby; top) and Buster (all grey). We adopted them from PAWS three years ago in June and they have been the most wonderful addition to our family! They are the biggest lovers and the funniest "fighters." Thank you PAWS for giving us the best cats in the world!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Theodore :)

This is our friendly and super-adoptable friend Theodore. Isn't he Theo-dorable? ;)

This handsome dude was trapped with his brother Wally, who has since been adopted. Now it's time for Theodore to find HIS happily ever after.

Theodore is about 1 1/2 years old, neutered, micro-chipped and current on his vaccinations. He's negative for FIV and FeLV. Theodore currently lives in one of the open rooms at PAWS, so we know he gets along well with other kitties. If you're wondering how he feels about people (including children!), he likes them, too. He makes this clear by always greeting whoever is lucky enough to visit him and his roommates. Theo would love to meet and greet his way into your heart and home. Come meet him today! :)

Zoe update: Thank you again for your purrs, prayers and good thoughts. Zoe is doing well, and seems more like herself with each passing day. We have a follow up/next steps appointment with our regular vet on Saturday. Paws crossed!

Happy Zoe Update :)

Good news! Zoe is home! Much to our delight (and Zoe's, too), the vets at Cornell Veterinary Specialists pronounced our girl fit to come home today. Upon her arrival home, she enjoyed a little snack, and a nice cool drink from the fountain.

And now, she's resting comfortably in her crown princess bed:

Zoe's still a little wobbly, which they said is normal after an episode like this. We have to (try to) keep her from climbing things for the next week or so, and have her checked by our regular vets in 5-7 days, but she is home and happy. Sister Gracie is noticeably brighter now that Zoe is back. So are Tracey and I. :)

Not sure what caused all of this, but we will consult with our vets to see what we can/should do moving forward.

Thank you, everyone, for your concern and care. We love and appreciate you all, and will keep you posted.

Hugs and headbonks,

Kevin, Tracey, Gracie and Zoe

Purrs and prayers for Zoe, please

Please send purrs, prayers and good thoughts for our sweet Zoe.

We rushed her to the vet early this afternoon when she began stumbling around for no apparent reason (thank goodness we were at home when it happened). We ended up having to leave her at the 24-hour veterinary specialist, probably through Monday. Tonight's update was more positive than negative. According to the doctor, most of Zoe's symptoms (which included lack of balance, disorientation and open-mouthed breathing) have lessened in severity since she was admitted. All of the tests they've run so far haven't shown anything out of the ordinary. Her blood pressure and blood work are fine, her kidney levels are slightly elevated (but nothing bad), and her heartbeat was a little slow (but again, nothing to be alarmed about). The doctor who gave us the update says they suspect Zoe had a stroke, but do not know what could have caused it, or the severity of it. We'll get another update in the morning.

For now, we're just waiting. We're very worried and sad, but doing our best to stay positive. Gracie (Zoe's sister/littermate) seems a little down, but generally okay right now, which is a relief. We're making sure to give her lots of extra love.

We'll update you as we are able.

Hugs, headbonks and much gratitude to you all.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Clementine :)

🎶 Oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Clementine... ♪

Our beautiful, adoptable friend Clementine truly IS a darling!
This sweet and super friendly girl loves people, and is one of the "official greeters" in the PAWS showcase room.

Clementine is about 1 1/2 years old, spayed, micro-chipped and current on her vaccinations. She's tested negative for FIV and FeLV. As mentioned, she loves people! She also gets along well with other cats. Clementine is definitely ready to find her forever family. Won't you please give her the chance she so deserves?
