A Very Stylish Award :)

We won an award! Our friends at two blogs -- Gorogoro & Nikoniko and A Cat's Golden Years -- recently bestowed us with the "Stylish Blogger Award." Thank you Goro and Niko (and their Mom), and Miss Kitty and Dad Egmont! We are thankful for your friendship, and are honored to receive this award from you. :)

The rules for the award say we have to share 7 things. Since our blog is (mostly) about the cats of PAWS, we're going to be shelter-centric in our sharing. Oh, and just in case you're wondering ... all of the cats in things 1 through 6 are available for adoption! Here goes...

Happy News Update :)

We love sharing happy news! And it doesn't get much happier than a bunch of shelter cats finding -- and loving life in -- their forever homes. Also ranking pretty high on the happiness scale is hearing that other kitties are doing well in their foster homes. In any case, we hope the following "happy tails" help start your weekend with a smile...

Remember Sammy, the sweet, one-eyed wonder cat?

His new owner reports that Sammy is enjoying his new forever home:

“I was able to get some pictures of Sammy. I thought he would be easy to photograph, but he's always in motion! Busy as a bee! He seems to be settling in just fine so far. He does one thing that amazes me. He will sit about three feet from the bedroom door and "stare" at it. He seems to know there is a closed door there and wants to know what's on the other side. Meanwhile, Andy seems to have no clue there is another cat in the apartment. I'm sure that will change by tomorrow.”

And Grover the Cat wrote us to say, "I’m happy and healthy and doing great ... I’m so happy that I play all day like a kitten again!"

Easy Like Sunday - Conrad

Now that Conrad has gotten used to the sights and sounds of the shelter, he LOVES hanging out with his human volunteer pals. Today, after he sat on my lap for a while, this sweet and handsome boy helped Tracey read the newspaper. :)

Fun Girl Friday :)

Swizzle is pretty new at PAWS. So far, we've learned that she's a sweet and gentle cat who LOVES to play with the track ball toy. We'll share more about Swizzle as we get to know her. :)

Mancat Monday - Sailor

Handsome Sailor ended up at PAWS after (human) family members with a new baby moved into the house. Not exactly a fan of large and loud groups of people, our poor buddy found himself the odd man(cat) out. :(

As he's gotten more and more comfortable with being at the shelter, we've seen Sailor's true personality emerge. And what a joy it has been! This kitty loves people, loves to play and loves to snuggle. He's also a talker (in a good way).

Five-year old Sailor is an indoor-only cat, who would do best in a quieter home with no children or other pets. He's up to date on all his vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Copy Cat Claire

Sweet Claire was recently moved into PAWS Records Room.

She quickly decided that she is "Queen of the Copy Machine."

We're guessing her affinity for the copy machine has
something to do with it being warm and toasty! :)

GREAT News! :)

Sancha -- the sweet and beautiful cat we wrote about just yesterday -- has found a forever home of her very own! Congratulations to Sancha and her new family ... we know they'll enjoy life together! Big thanks to all of our friends who purred and prayed for Sancha, and those who helped spread the news about her. We know all that positive energy helped get our buddy adopted. :)

And just in case you want even MORE good news ... the following kitties -- some of whom have appeared before on the blog -- are joining Sancha in the "now-living-in-a-real-home" celebration:

Gadget (to foster): Gadget, our talkative buddy who won the "Best Fantasy Costume" category in Hansel's 2010 Halloween Spooktacular, is doing extremely well in his foster home. His foster mom says he has made himself quite comfortable in just the short time he's been there!

Orion and Carina: Orion -- who has tested positive for FIV, but is symptom free, and his sisfur Carina (who is FIV negative) really love each other, and have been adopted together. :)

Sweet Sancha Looking for Love

Big and beautiful Sancha is in search of a forever home of her very own. Sadly, this is Sancha’s second time at PAWS (now 6 years old, she was first adopted at the tender age of 8 weeks), and being back has been a difficult adjustment for her. At first, she was so depressed that she refused to come out of her cage – even when we left it wide open. She would also hiss and growl at the other cats in the room if they happened to walk by her cage during their “out” time. But with consistent love from the PAWS volunteers and staff, Sancha’s true personality is beginning to re-emerge. Even though she’s still not fond of her feline roomies, she loves hanging out with her human friends (who give her lots of pets and attention) , and looks forward to being out of her cage to stretch her legs and SPRAWL on the floor. Sometimes, she even lies on her back and shows her floofy belly! :)

Sancha is an indoor-only cat, and would do best in a quieter home with no other pets. She is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Won’t you consider opening your heart and home to this sweet lady cat?

It'll be a blessed new year, indeed, for some PAWS cats (including Reeses and his sister Sasha, both pictured above) who will ring in 2011 in their forever homes! Since our last update, the following kitties have also been adopted: Cricket, Decker, Dolby and Muffin, Duffy, Haley and Burke, Jones, Kix and Trix, Licorice (who will be joining PAWS alum Justin), Ming, Portia and Pockaboo, Ryobi, Snow Pea, Sony and Yahtzee, and Toro and Cooper.

For all you PAWS cats who haven't yet "graduated," don't worry! We're confident the coming year will bring with it some great opportunities for us to help you find your forever families. Until you do, all of the volunteers and staff will give you as much love and attention as we can. :)

And finally, to you, all of our friends and blog followers ... thank you, and Happy New Year. :)
