(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Buddy :)

Hi there, handsome Buddy. What's that you're looking at?

Oh, we see. It's a pesky purple pipe cleaner.

Get it, Buddy!

Okay, time to rest. :)

Our pal Buddy is about 12 years old, neutered, micro-chipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. He'll be a great best friend to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him, and will do best in a quieter home where the cuddles are abundant, but without small children or other animals. He's such a good boy. Won't you please give him the chance he deserves?

Buddy qualifies for the PAWS Pension Plan, which features no fee adoptions for cats 12 years and older, with the following included at no cost for the life of the cat: a yearly exam and senior blood workup analysis, and vaccinations as recommended by the PAWS vet.

Happy Meow-lidays! :)

The tradition lives on: waiting for Santa :)

Happy Holidays, everybuddy!

May all your dreams and wishes come true this season.

Love, hugs and headbonks,

Gracie, Zoe, Tracey and Kevin (meowmeowmans)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Zatz

Meet our new friend, Zatz. Isn't she beautiful?

Zatz is still pretty new at PAWS, so she's just starting to come out of her shell. And we're still just getting to know her personality.

Her intake card says that she "can be feisty," but we wonder if that behavior is just part of being in such an unfamiliar place. Because we've also noticed that she can be playful, sweet and engaging.

Zatz is about 8 years old, and would probably do best in a home without children or other pets. We're pretty sure she'll blossom once she's in a stable and loving home. Zatz is spayed, micro-chipped and current on her vaccinations. She has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Now all she needs is a forever home. Is it yours?

Wishing meowmeowmans a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hi! Mom Tracey here, hijacking today's post. Furkids Gracie and Zoe, and I, would like to wish Kevin (aka meowmeowmans) a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!  Many moons (aka years) ago, on this day, a very kind and caring person was born into this world. We are so excited to celebrate this special birthday weekend with him, and we're extremely blessed to have so many animal-loving friends to share in it.

So, we'd like you all to spread a little extra kindness this weekend in honor
of this super guy's birthday.

We love you!

Tracey (aka mrs meowmeowmans), Gracie and Zoe

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Hanging with Lucy

Here's our beautiful and adoptable housepanther pal, Lucy, hanging out on (and off of) the well-loved Room One cat tree.

Lucy's been living at PAWS for one year, while she waits to find her forever home. She's a cautious ladycat, but is fine with staff and volunteers she knows well. We know she'll blossom in a quiet and patient home. Lucy is about 9 years old, spayed, micro-chipped, and current on her vaccinations. She has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Now all she needs is a hero to rescue her. Is it you?

A Special Sunday Selfie - Angel Moosey

"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on…" – Irving Berlin

Never forgotten. Always loved.

It's been one year since we had to say our sad goodbyes to our beloved Moosey.

This beautiful portrait of Moosey was painted by Nellie the Cat's mom, Barb.

We love and miss you so much, sweet boy. But we know we will see you again, one fine day. Wait for us, okay?

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Pumpkin

This is our sweet, gentle and adoptable friend, Pumpkin. If she looks familiar to those of you who are familiar with our blog, it's because she has been waiting at PAWS for quite some time for her forever home.

It makes us sad that wonderful cats like Pumpkin get overlooked, simply because they're a little more reserved and shy around people they don't know well.

We wish potential adopters could see what we see whenever we spend time with Pumpkin - an awesome kitty who will blossom in a real home, and who will be a loving, faithful friend, if given the chance.

We sure hope someone gives Pumpkin the gift of a forever home for the holidays.

Pumpkin is about 12 years old, spayed, micro-chipped, current on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. She's got lots more living to do, and would be a great best friend to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. She also qualifies for the PAWS Pension Plan, which features no fee adoptions for cats 12 years and older, with the following included at no cost for the life of the cat: a yearly exam and senior blood workup analysis, and vaccinations as recommended by the PAWS vet. Come meet Pumpkin today!

On another note, you may have noticed that our blog has been magically transformed for the holidays, courtesy of our good friend Ann at Zoolatry. Thank you Ann, for all you do for the pet blogging community, and for our super festive header - we absolutely love it (and you)! :)

A Sassy Sunday Selfie :)

This is our beautiful new friend, Sassy. Is she majorly adorable, or what?

Sassy is still getting used to being at PAWS, and is still a little wary about people as a result of being tormented by the human children in her last home. She's making progress, though, and is generally a friendly, outgoing and playful ladycat.

Because of her past, 4 year-old Sassy would do best in a quiet home, without other pets or small children. Sassy is spayed, micro-chipped, current on her vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV.

Now all Sassy needs is a real happily ever after. Won't you please give her the safe and loving home she deserves?

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Roomies :)

Two of our favorite PAWS cats are gorgeous roommates Artemis and Phoebe. These golden girls (Artemis is 14 years old, and Phoebe is 16) may not be crazy about each other, but both are super sweet and love people. :)

Here's Artemis, laying on her best pal Tracey (and giving the pawparazzi a raspberry!)

Roommate Phoebe says, "Hey! Put that camera down, and give me more snuggles!"

Artemis and Phoebe are spayed, micro-chipped, and current on their vaccinations. Both have tested negative for FIV and FeLV. As senior kitties, Phoebe and Artemis qualify for the PAWS Pension Plan, which features no fee adoptions for cats 12 years and older, with the following included at no cost for the life of the cat: a yearly exam and senior blood workup analysis, and vaccinations as recommended by the PAWS vet. Both of these beauties still have so much love to give. Come meet them today, and get some love!

Chatham's Sunday Selfie :)

Handsome Chatham is a really nice cat. He's playful and friendly, and he has a super luxurious coat. As you can see, Chatham also takes a terrific (albeit very serious) selfie. :)

Chatham is about 5 years old. He'd do best in a quiet home, without small children. He gets along fine with other nice kitties. He's neutered, micro-chipped and current on his vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Now all he needs is a new best friend. Could it be you?

Giving Thanks for FURever Homes :)

With Thanksgiving Weekend upon us, we have a lot for which to be grateful. One of the things we're most thankful for is seeing so many of our shelter friends find their forever homes. And while all gotcha stories are wonderful, some tug extra hard at the ol' heartstrings...

Like our sweet and gentle friend, Swizzle. Adored by all of the volunteers and staff (and our wonderful friends at The Cat on My Head, who sponsored her every month for the past 2 1/2 years!), Swizzle waited for nearly six years at the shelter, until she went home last weekend with fellow PAWS volunteer, Chris.
The two of them have a very special connection, and we're all over the moon that Swizzle is now living it up with Chris and his two other cats, Tumble and (PAWS graduate) Truffle. Be sure to check out the "Happy Tails" section at the bottom of this post to read Chris' account of Swizzle's first week home!

And then, there's our handsome 16 year-old housepanther buddy, Clyde, who was first adopted from PAWS as a kitten, only to be returned recently when his human had to go into assisted living. Clyde is the nicest boy ever, so we know he was well-loved in his first forever home. As you can guess, the chances of a senior black cat with age-related health issues being adopted aren't exactly promising. But miracles do come true. And this one came courtesy of our friend Layla, from Cat Wisdom 101.
From what we hear, Clyde's transition to living with Layla, husband Joe, and cats Domino, Odin and Nou Nou went off without a hitch. Check out Layla's post about it here!

Do you remember senior lapcat, Mischief, who found herself at PAWS after her elderly owner could no longer care for her? Well, she found her happily ever after, and boy, is she ever loved.
Her new family says, "Mischief is awesome ... she's super mellow ... the kids love her ... we are all so happy! ... thank you for Mischief! ... things are perfect ... Mischief has no problem with anyone!"

What would a FURever Home Friday post be without some happy tails tales?

"Mikan is great! He's settled in and has commandeered our bed as his own! He's eating well, playing, especially with his scratching post) and loves lounging about. Thank you for checking up on him and, even more so, for letting us adopt him. He's part of our family now and we just love our chubby little dude!"

"Swizzle arrived home Saturday afternoon. She was greeted by my other two cats, Tumble and Truffle. Truffle is a PAWS alumni. They checked out the carrier but were otherwise cool and collected with the new roommate. Although I was prepared to separate the cats for a time being, that wasn't necessary. My cats gave Swizzle her space. Over the next few days she stayed by herself and didn't explore much. There was probably some sniffing around along the way to and from the litter box but other than that I don't think she wandered around. She still doesn't, but that's okay with me if that's okay with her. This Saturday I thought it was time to get her a personal lounge area like I have for Tumble and Truffle. So I found something that reminds me of her previous wicker hut. And she gravitated towards the new lounge immediately. She loves it! So far, so good, Swizzle! Keep it up."

"I just love Nashibee! She is even better than I could have hoped for. She settled in right away and has such a sweet personality. We are both very lucky. Thank you!"

Happy Thanksgiving, everybuddy!
And happy FURever Home Friday, too. :)

Apricat's Sunday Selfies :)

Even though she's kind of new to the shelter, pretty Apricat raised her pretty paw to volunteer to take this week's Sunday Selfie. She did a really good job, don't you think?

Apricat was found as a stray on the streets of Norwalk, Connecticut, with really young kittens. Thankfully, one of our awesome fellow PAWS volunteers stepped up to foster this little family until they were ready to be adopted. Now that her babies have all been adopted, 5 year-old Apricat is ready to find her very own happily ever after. She's spayed, micro-chipped, and current on her vaccinations, and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. As we mentioned before, Apricat is still kind of new, and is still getting used to things here. But she will absolutely, positively blossom in a forever home, so come meet her today, and fall in love!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Toulouse :)

Big and friendly mancat Toulouse is what lots of people call "the complete package." He's strikingly handsome...
And playful. And he has lots of awesome extra toes.
He also has the cutest pink nose!
Toulouse gets along well with other nice kitties, but would also be fine as an only cat. He's neutered, micro-chipped, current on his vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. Toulouse is about 5 years old, with lots of life to live and lots of love to give. Come meet him today!

Here's Mercy's combination selfie/Easy Like Sunday
A more serious-type selfie
Settling in for a nice "Easy Like Sunday"
Merceline is about 7 years-old, spayed, micro-chipped, current on her vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV. She gets along well with other nice cats. She has the sweetest meow, loves being pet and cuddled. Now all she needs is a new best friend. Is it you?
