FURever Home Friday :)

Of all the incredible rewards that come from volunteering at a shelter, one of the greatest is the privilege of loving the animals as they wait for their forever homes.  And it is such an honor when they love us back.  Such connections are real, so it's always a little bittersweet when any of "our" PAWS cats get adopted. We always miss the ones who "graduate," but any sadness is eclipsed by the joy of knowing that they have found their very own happily ever afters.  And with that, we bring you another exciting edition of FURever Home Friday! Guess who's been adopted from PAWS?

Beautiful senior gal Calliope!

(Brother and sister) Yankee and Doodle, together with their roommate and pal, Geraldo!

Handsome senior mancat Sydney!

Adorable Orange Annie...

...together with her stunning brother, Jack O'Lantern AND their awesome adult kitty pal, Bradley

Spunky and fun Noname (pronounced No-NAH-may)!

Easy Like Sunday Selfie - Pumpkin

This week, we're excited to be taking part in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, sponsored by our good friends at The Cat on My Head.  We asked our gorgeous and adoptable pal Pumpkin if she'd be our model.  And as you can see, she was more than up for the challenge.  Here's Pumpkin's selfie:

This gentle and reserved girl is pretty unique, according to the rules of cat genetics. Did you know that only 20 percent of orange tabby cats are female? And since long hair in cats is a recessive genetic trait, the fact that Pumpkin is a longhaired orange female tabby cat makes her even more special.

Pumpkin: Whew. All this talk about genetics and percentages is making me kind of tired. What do you say we just wish everybody a peaceful, easy Sunday?

Sounds good, Pumpkin.  Have a peaceful, easy Sunday, everybody. :)

Moosey Update; and Foster Friend Friday

Happy Friday, everybuddy!   It's me, Moosey!  Mom and Dad said I could take care of the posting duties today, since I have some pretty good news to share...

So here it is. We have finally managed to get my diabetes regulated!  We know the insulin dosage that works best for me, and according to Dr. L., my blood glucose levels are now "excellent." This is especially remarkable considering my other health issues (which are also under control right now).  My most favorite part of all (and Mom and Dad's, too) is that I don't have to go back to the v-e-t for a whole month!

Thank you all again for keeping me and my family in your thoughts, purrs, prayers and for sending all of that healing energy. We love and appreciate you all very much.

Hugs and headbonks!

Moosey (and Gracie and Zoe, and Mom Tracey and Dad Kevin, too)

Can you please help our foster friend Betty?

This incredible young ladycat was pregnant and wandering a local neighborhood when she was rescued. All her kittens have been adopted, but now Betty is looking for her own happily ever after.

According to her foster mom (a friend and fellow PAWS volunteer), "Betty is a super friendly, outgoing, inquisitive and affectionate young lady who the vet estimates to be between 2 and 3 years old.  She has an amazing disposition, and would do well with children who are gentle with cats. We do not know how she is with dogs but with her self-assured nature she would probably do fine with cat-friendly dogs. She would probably do best in a home where she is the only cat."

Mom Tracey and Dad Kevin got to meet Betty on Sunday, and they said she is SO sweet.  She really loves everyone she meets, and would be an instant family member.  She is spayed, current on her shots, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV.  She's even microchipped. Read more about Betty (including how to adopt her) here!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Truffle

Our sweet and beautiful friend Truffle is still looking for her forever home. She's been waiting a long, long time.

Like any self-respecting cat, she's quite an authority on the subject of relaxation. :)

But Truffle is no one-trick kitty. As you can see in this video, she's also pretty good at playing, when the mood strikes her.*

(*If the video won't play for you, check it out HERE on YouTube.)

Come meet Truffle at PAWS today!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Sydney

What better way to start your New Year than with a new best friend?  Sydney is a handsome, super-friendly lap cat in search of a forever home. This long-haired housepanther loves people (including those he's just met), and gets along with most other kitties, too.

Sydney is about 9 years young, neutered, micro-chipped and current on his vaccinations. He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and he's waiting at PAWS to meet you. :)

A Most Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  As we close out 2014, we have a lot for which to be thankful. We've got our happiness, our health (including Moosey, who is currently doing well, and who seems to be responding to his insulin shots), and our family and friends (including all of you, of course!). Thank you, one and all, for your friendship, support, laughter, purrs and prayers. We love you all, and are so very grateful to have you in our lives.
Gracie, Moosey and Zoe ... ready for some New Year's fun. (Thanks, Nellie, Kozmo and Mom Barb!)

If you're wondering about Moosey, Gracie and Zoe's stylish attire, they're all over at Nellie and Kozmo's New Year's Bash.  They all hope to see you there, especially because Nellie and Kozmo are having a commentathon to benefit our friend Joe the Donkey, from Marg's Animals. (And to see more pics of Moosey, Gracie and Zoe and some of their friends at the party, click here!)

And speaking of starting the new year in style ... a whole bunch of PAWS kitties found their forever homes since our last FURever Home Friday update!

Top row: Annie, Marley and Morris; 2nd Row: Molly and Wolfy; 3rd Row: Blinkey, Wizard and Bjork; Bottom Row: Pita & Crumpet, Elvira and Jute

Here's the complete list of the most recent PAWS cat graduates, in alphabetical order: Annie, Ava, Basil, Bee Bee, Belle, Bjork, Black Beauty, Blinkey, Circe and Annie Oakley (together), Coco, Cody, Cola and Wizard (together), Elvira, Eno, Gizmo, Howard, Jill, Jute, Marley, Morris, Noko Marie, Onyx, Oregano, Pita and Crumpet (together), Ricki and Roo (together), Sabrina, Tarragon, Thyme, Wolfy and Wyatt.

Tracey and I were lucky enough to be at PAWS when Molly's new mom and dad came to take her home. Miss Molly was so ready to go that she walked right into the carrier for the trip to her happily ever after. And she's quickly made herself at home, as evidenced by these pictures from Mom Carey:

WISHING YOU ALL A NEW YEAR FILLED WITH LOVE, HAPPINESS AND HEALTH. :)
