Happy Zoe Update :)

Good news! Zoe is home! Much to our delight (and Zoe's, too), the vets at Cornell Veterinary Specialists pronounced our girl fit to come home today. Upon her arrival home, she enjoyed a little snack, and a nice cool drink from the fountain.

And now, she's resting comfortably in her crown princess bed:

Zoe's still a little wobbly, which they said is normal after an episode like this. We have to (try to) keep her from climbing things for the next week or so, and have her checked by our regular vets in 5-7 days, but she is home and happy. Sister Gracie is noticeably brighter now that Zoe is back. So are Tracey and I. :)

Not sure what caused all of this, but we will consult with our vets to see what we can/should do moving forward.

Thank you, everyone, for your concern and care. We love and appreciate you all, and will keep you posted.

Hugs and headbonks,

Kevin, Tracey, Gracie and Zoe

  14. This update is the best of the best! We've been checking back throughout the day to see if you had any news on Zoe, and this is just what we were looking for. I'm sure Zoe is so glad to be home, and we sure bet that you and Gracie are beyond thrilled to have her back!

I didn't mention this earlier, as I wasn't sure whether it was of any use to you at all, and I didn't want to add to the many questions that I'm sure you already had at the time. But, my angel Rosie had an episode very similar to this when she was perhaps 12 or 13. What's strange about hers, though, is that it was ultimately more or less pegged down to a traumatic vomiting episode. Rosie was always a frequent vomiter, and sometimes her hairballs would get a bit stuck. And then, one day, I came home from school to find her totally off kilter and stumbling. Her usual personality was there, and nothing else seemed off, but she simply could not walk straight, jump, or move in any normal manner. Along with her presenting symptoms, I found one of her hefty piles of vomit. It was ultimately decided that she must have worked so hard to produce that vomit that she more or less messed up her oxygen flow, such as that to her brain, which thereby caused her episode of stumbling. For me it was a completely new sort of experience and explanation, but I guess it made sense. What's more, Rosie was more or less back to normal by the next day. And it never happened again in the remaining decade or so of her life. I guess I just wanted to throw that out there, in case it might spark for you some potential answers in the case of Zoe's similar episode.

What's most important, though, is that Zoe is home! We really are so very happy for you and Zoe, as it must be wonderful to have her home and resting with you. We will, of course, keep up with our purrs and prayers for a continued recovery!
