Flashback Friday Friends

Check out this picture our friend (and fellow longtime volunteer), Maggie, found recently in her files.  She took it at PAWS about nine years ago.  The big kitty is our (Mom Tracey and Dad Kevin's) angel Lady Madonna.  The image brought back a flood of memories, including the fact that these kittens were NOT Lady Madonna's.  One of our favorite things about Lady is that she loved all cats and kittens.  And she was more than happy to play the role of cuddly auntie to these two babies (Dipsy and Doodle) whose biological mommy wasn't really into the more tender aspects of motherhood.

Flash forward to about 1 1/2 weeks ago.  Maggie (who many of you know through her awesome Sundays at the Shelter blog) saw something that gave her pause when she looked at the faces of PAWS newcomers Roxy and Tripper.  When she asked us what we thought, Tracey and I saw it, too.  Do you?

Roxy
Tripper
Yep, you guessed it ... Roxy and Tripper are Dipsy and Doodle, all grown up.  We don't know why they've ended up back at PAWS after all these years, but we know they are friendly, gentle and still very attached to each other.  While it sort of breaks our hearts to see them back, we're glad our long lost friends will be safe, warm and loved until they find their new happily ever after.

Another baby picture of Roxy (left) and Tripper
Maybe you, or somebody you know, can give these sweet siblings the second chance they so deserve?

  2. I didn't remember the kittens' names! It's fun to reminisce about the cats we fell in love with, but sad when we encounter them again at the shelter. They were lovely kittens and now they are sweet and beautiful adults.

  3. While it IS sad to see them back, we are grateful that they ended up where they will be cared for and safe until their second chance family comes along. The thought of them being turned loose in the woods or left at animal control or worse make us shudder. We ask the Universe to send someone who will understand and keep them both together...and love them for the rest of their days.

  10. You know, it's so sad when kitties are returned after years in a home. The other day, I was visiting Cat Care and saw a kitty come back after three years, too. It's sad. At the same time, I'm glad the owners bring them back because we know they'll be safe and cared for while they await a new home.

Good luck to Roxie and Tipper. We hope someone can give you a real forever home. <3

  13. Lady Madonna was beautiful, and really must have been a wonderful cat, to play auntie like that. :-)

We're very sorry to see the cats returned, but know that's better than just abandoning them or turning them out on the street. Purrs to them that they find their real forever home sooner than later.

  23. It is sad that they were returned after 9 years. Maybe it was a bereavement and there was no family to keep them in their home. It is hard to think someone would just tire of them after all that time. I am glad that they are safe and loved back at PAWS and hope they soon get another loving home.

  34. Nine years is a long time to have kitties. We can never know what people have gone through/are going through , and I'd like to think these two were loved enough for their owners to ensure they ended up in a wonderful facility such as yours, rather than out on the street. We have our paws crossed that someone will fall in love with them , take them home and love them until their last days.

P.S. What an absolute treasure Lady Madonna was :)
