Patch is Looking for Love

Our pal Patch came to PAWS when his human mom passed away. The woman’s widower said, “…he didn’t want Patch and his mother around ‘because they were a reminder of his late wife.’” We can’t understand this AT ALL! And as if that wasn’t bad enough, whoever put Patch into the carrier to be brought to PAWS did so with such force that his back claws were torn. It’s no wonder that Patch was terrified of people when we first met him. He would cower in the back corner of his cage, hiding his face and avoiding interaction. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

But some of us saw a glimmer of hope in Patch. At first, we’d only get a few gentle pets in before Patch would try to whack us with his paw. But he seemed more scared than angry, so we kept on trying, hoping that we could gain even a little of this handsome boy’s trust. And lo and behold, with patient persistence, Patch has made incredible strides!

Patch now lives in one of the “open” cat rooms at PAWS. While he’s still on the shy side, he loves to be petted on his head, and adores being brushed on his head and neck (he even lifts his head so his neck can be brushed underneath)! Patch would do well in a quiet, less active home where he’ll receive lots of love and attention. He must be an indoor-only cat, and should not be with dogs or young children. Patch is about three years old. He is neutered, current on all his vaccinations and has tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Won’t you give this sweet boy the loving home he so desperately desires?

  29. Patch is gorgeous with his nose spots and eyeliner! I am so surprised that the widower would not want to hold and treasure Patch as a connection to his wife. I hope Patch can find a Forever home where he will be loved and appreciated.

  32. We are glad (although we will never understand why families "dispose" of pets that were loved by their deceased family members), Patch didn't stay with the widower. It sounds as though he wouldn't have received what he so strongly deserves , love and respect!! Hang tight Patch.Your forever family is just around the corner:) :)

  34. Patch deserves to be safe and loved. I don't understand humans sometimes, throwing away such a precious companion out of grief and fear...I would cling to that boy and together we would remember and celebrate momma who has gone to the other side of the Bridge.
