We Won an Award!

We're so excited!  Some of our wonderful blogging friends have given us an award! *

Thank you to our pals Oui Oui, Mica Minnie Moo, Julie and Carlos at Twinkletoe Tails and Sherlock, Ash and Traveler at Sherlock's Feline Purr-spective for the 2012 Blog of the Year Award!  To learn the rules about how the six stars on this unique award work, go here.  In short, this award is for blogs "you love to read" and that "you bookmark and follow."  We love ALL of our blogging friends so much, so this is really and truly an honor for us! :)

Here's our favorite part of the award: we get to pass it along to blogs WE love!  It's so difficult to choose less than, like, 250 of you.  So we'll cap our list of honorees at 16.  Otherwise we're never going to finish this post! :)  So, without further ado, we'd like to give the 2012 Blog of the Year Award to...

Have a great weekend, everybody!

(* We also received two other awards this week.  We promise we'll share about those in future posts.)

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Kitchen Cats

A funny thing happened recently in the PAWS kitchen...
Gracie: Zoey and I had nothing to do with this.  We've been up here the whole time.
Gracie: See?
Tracey and Kevin: Um, boys?  Does that bag belong to you?
Max: Oh, I love this catnip pillow!
Freddy: I wonder what else is in this bag?  Max: MEOW!
The bag, incidentally, did NOT belong to Max and Freddy.  But they sure had fun with its contents.  All of the sweet and friendly PAWS kitchen cats are available for adoption. Come meet them today! :)

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Moosey: Hi, everybuddy!  Sammy and I are having so much fun at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...

Sammy: Moosey, look!  It's HELLO KITTY! We LOVE Hello Kitty!!!

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life!

We're so grateful for people involved with animal rescue. And for those who choose to adopt shelter animals and/or take in stray pets.  And for those who work with, or volunteer with, shelter animals; serve as foster families; care for feral cats and/or participate in trap-neuter-return programs; and raise awareness about animals in need.  And for animal lovers everywhere.

We also give big thanks for our families and friends (animal and human alike), including all of our blogging pals.  Thank you for sharing in our lives, and for allowing us to share in yours.  We love you all!

Happy Adoption News, and a Way to Support PAWS

You may recall that PAWS recently held a special adoption event called, "9 Lives for Nine Dollars," in which all cats nine months and older could be adopted for a super low fee of $9.  You're probably wondering how the nine-day event went, right?  Well, check out these exciting adoptions!

In all, nine adult cats were adopted during the "9 Lives for $9" event.  And here's the FULL list of adoptions since our last update: Anime, Barbra, Belle, Bobble, Caru, Chandler, Chino, Christina and Kyle (together), Cuddles, Fendi and Henrietta (together), and Hippity and Hoppity (together, to permanent foster), Imogene, Mercy, Ross, Sabre, Scooter, and Spooky.

We know you all love hearing about how the PAWS graduates are doing in their new homes, and we already have a happy report from Sabre's new family!  Here's what they wrote on the PAWS Facebook wall:

Sabre and his new BFF!
"We are in love with our newest family member, Sabre! He has already explored his new home, had something to eat & settled down in a cozy spot. We can see why he was so loved at PAWS. He's a wonderful cat. Now our family feels complete."

Here are a couple of other "happy tails" to make you smile.  First up is a picture of recent PAWS graduate Sierra in her new home (we're told that she's doing great!):

And little Bobble, now named Quinn, has also settled into his forever home quite nicely.  Here he is, hanging out in the cat tree with his new sibling!

------------

Here's a neat way you can support PAWS.  A company named Social Pakt is offering a limited edition t-shirt, customized for PAWS! For every t-shirt sold between Monday, Nov. 19th and Sunday, Dec. 2nd, PAWS will receive a portion of the proceeds.  You get a great looking shirt and PAWS gets a generous donation! Please go here to learn more, and to see the T-shirt design.

Thanks for reading, everyone.  Have a great day! :)

Easy Like (Sammy) Sunday :)

Here's our very own PAWS graduate Sammy, taking it easy on his favorite chair and dreaming of the magical day when his Christmas tree makes its annual appearance.

Don't worry, Sammy, we'll be setting that tree up for you next weekend! :)

A Very Special Adoption Event

This Saturday (November 10), PAWS will begin a fantastic 9-day adoption event. "9 Lives for 9 Dollars" -- part of Best Friends Animal Society's national promotion of the same name -- runs through Sunday, November 18.  And it is exactly what it sounds like ... all PAWS cats (nine months and older) can be adopted for a super low fee of just $9!

All these cats are spayed/neutered, current on their vaccinations, FIV and FeLV tested, and microchipped.  You'll even get a goody bag of food, toys and other items to welcome your new BFF home.  Is that not the best deal ever? :)  IMPORTANT NOTE: Even though the fee will be just $9, all potential adopters will, as always, be carefully screened.

PAWS has so many amazing kittehs waiting to find their forever families.  Here are just a few:

Top Row: Allie, Tessa, Dottie and Elmer; 2nd Row: Miles, Cinnamon,
and Ginger, Amanda, and Woogie; 3rd Row: Marshall, Brenna, Boop
and Oscar; Bottom Row: Roamer, Sandy, Doodle and Swizzle
Click here to check out a video ad created just for this event.  If you live within driving distance of Norwalk, Connecticut, and are ready to find your new furry best friend, come on down!  If you DON'T live in this area, check here to see if a shelter in YOUR area is participating in the national event.

Finally, PLEASE consider helping spread the word by sharing this post anywhere and everywhere you can.  You just never know who might know someone. :)

Thank you, everyone.  Keep those fingers and paws crossed for lots of forever homes, and have a great weekend!

Dona Nobis Pacem *

Today (November 4), we’re taking part in “BlogBlast for Peace.” Since Mimi Lenox started it in 2006, this day of peace has grown to include thousands of bloggers in more than 150 countries.

Imagine all the people, living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us,
and the world will live as one.
- John Lennon, "Imagine"

Imagine mosaic, Strawberry Fields, Central Park, NYC

This post is in memory of our Auntie Kathy, who possessed a beautiful smile and a true spirit of peace.  She also fostered countless kittens for her local animal shelter, and was a huge fan of the Beatles.

Wishing peace for all beings today and every day,

Kevin, Tracey, Sammy and Moosey

(* Dona Nobis Pacem is Latin for "grant us peace.")
